Watermelon Day

At the official opening of the school on 14th March 1925 each child was given a celebratory slice of watermelon. We will recreate this event on Friday 14 March. All students will gather on the 3-6 campus (the original school site) to hear a few words about the school’s history. Students will eat some watermelon with their buddy class, and we will take some photographs. Later in the day students will play some old-fashioned playground games on their own site. A special thank you to our wonderful P&C, Harris Farm Pennant Hills, IGA Supamart Pennant Hills and Pennant Hills Marketplace for supporting this event and donating watermelons to the school.

    Pennant Hills Public School acknowledge the Dharug and Kuring-Gai people, who are the traditional owners of this land. They have walked upon and cared for this land for thousands of years. We would like to pay our respects to Elders past and present of the Dharug and Kuring-Gai people and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge the continued deep spiritual attachment and relationship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to this country and commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of Reconciliation.
