Rules and policies

Policies and procedures are in place to ensure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent.

For more information about compulsory school attendance, visit:

The following frameworks apply to students at Pennant Hills Public School:

Health and Wellbeing

Pennant Hills Public School requires that all students issue a current, in date Action Plan from their doctor to the school office if diagnosed with:

·     Anaphylaxis

·     Allergies

·     Asthma

·     Other health conditions

An Action Plan can be obtained from your child’s doctor or from either school office (pictured below). To accompany all health conditions, the Department of Education have issued a document for parents complete and attach to your child's action plan.

Request for support at school of a student health condition

An updated photo of your child should be attached to the Action Plan (if possible) and handed to school office along with any required medication.

Should you have enquiries, you may contact the school office during school hours.

Medication

It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to deliver in-date medication clearly labelled with your child’s name to the school office for storage.

Children are not permitted to keep medications on their person at any time.

Please keep a note of the expiry date of your child’s medication to ensure it does not lapse; we are legally unable to administer expired medications.

If your child's doctor has diagnosed your child with a medical condition they will complete an action plan detailing your child's condition and medical requirements should medical intervention be needed. Action plans are listed below for  your reference.

At PHPS, we require a colour copy of your child's action plan and medication that has been prescribed.

Medication

  • Medication supplied to the school must remain in its original packaging and have the chemist sticker explaining the dosage requirements.
  • Only the prescribed dosage will be administered. Verbal instructions from parents will NOT be accepted unless a doctor's note is provided to confirm the instructions.
