Sentence A Day

As a way to start the day, students in Stage 2 have had the opportunity to work on a ‘sentence of the day’. Each week, they explore a different focus of writing, spelling or grammar, writing sentences that reflect this focus.

In 3H we are building a WOW word wall with a bank of student-generated words that they can then use in their sentence of the day and beyond, thus enriching their vocabulary. It appears to be a daily thrill for the students; they jump with excitement each day, each week, at the challenge of exploring the possibilities of using new words, sentence structures or ideas.

This week, the students worked on using adverbs in their writing.

Lucas P - I wanted to go to my tangle house to beautifully paint a picture.

Scarlett H. - I carefully picked the injured little bird and wrapped it slowly in a small pretty outback blanket.

Enoch P - A snow leopard cautiously crawled like a snowflake drops to a sheet of white grass and the snow leopard drank from a crystal clear lake full of sky light ice.

Leo J. - I slowly walked into the creepy scary cave until I heard a shushing sound and I froze.
